DR POON ZHIMIN

Dr Poon is a senior Family Physician with over 10 years of experience in primary care. She graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2010 and was part of the pioneer cohort of the Family Medicine Residency Training Programme. Through the programme, she underwent structured training across multiple specialties, including Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Paediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Geriatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and ENT. In recognition of her dedication to Family Medicine, Dr Poon received the SingHealth Best Resident Award and Outstanding Resident Representative Award in 2012.

After completing her residency, she served at SingHealth Polyclinics, where she managed patients with complex medical conditions and was awarded Fellowship of the College of Family Physicians Singapore. She continued to serve as an Associate Consultant while actively contributing to special clinics within the Polyclinic setting.

Dr Poon has a particular interest in child and maternal health. As a mother of two, she understands the challenges faced by working mothers and young families. She previously served as Deputy Chairperson of the Child Health Workgroup at SingHealth Polyclinics and was involved in research projects aimed at improving postpartum healthcare delivery.

In addition to clinical practice, Dr Poon is deeply committed to medical education. She has served as a Clinical Tutor for the Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine, a Clinical Lecturer at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, a Clinical Instructor with Duke-NUS Medical School, and a faculty member for the SingHealth Family Medicine Residency Programme.

Dr Poon also has a special interest in dermatology and attained the Graduate Diploma in Family Practice Dermatology from the National Skin Centre in 2017.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys gardening and cherishes spending quality time with her two young children and family.
